New Customer Ordering System Preview 1
Today we are pleased to give you a sneak peak, behind the scenes look at the new customer ordering system that we are developing. Since we first released Rayzz back in 2006 we have used a 3rd party script called Iono which is owned by SolidPHP.
It did everything we wanted at first (and we’d recommend their latest software for anyone who needs to license their software) but over time our demands and requirements changed and it’s got to the point where there is so much virtual gaffer tape hacked on to the script that the decision was taken in late 2010 to develop a new customer ordering system tailored to our specific needs.
If you have noticed a slow down in releases for products like Rayzz, Volume and Channel in the last 6 months then the reason is that we had to put these developers on to this new customer ordering system.
The new system is very nearly ready, it’s going through round after round of testing with lots of back and forth feedback between all the stakeholders in the new system. We wanted to give you a quick heads up that the new system will be live soon, probably in June sometime.

Order Verification
We know that a big inconvenience to all our customers has been the verification of their orders. Unfortunately this process is necessary due to the extremely high levels of fraud and we need to be careful that we are not giving our products to people who are using fraudulent payment details.
However, we are pleased to announce that in our new customer area you now have the opportunity to automatically verify your PayPal account. Using a PayPal App we have created a system which queries the PayPal server and it tells us if the email you entered is verified by PayPal. If it is then whenever you place an order with that PayPal account we’ll approve your invoice automatically. Awesome!
Re-Assigning Licenses and Development Licenses
Another long term issue that we have addressed in this new customers area is the inconvenience of the license being locked and bound to a specific domain and IP. If you wanted to move to a new domain you currently have to contact us and we have to manually delete the license details. It’s not ideal for us and definitely not ideal for you!
A new feature we have introduced allows you to delete the license details at a click of a button. Simply click the Re-Assign button and install the script on the new site.

On top of that, a number of customers have begged and pleaded us for additional licenses so they can create a developer installation where they can carry out modifications before putting them on the live site. Is Agriya More Popular Than Infosys, TCS, Wipro and HCL?
We always knew that 2010 was a special year for Agriya with the incredible growth driven by our indemand GroupDeal and FP Platform products, but it was only recently that we realized just how popular Agriya had become on the world stage.
There is a data metric from Alexa which attempts to rank all the websites in the world based on the amount of traffic each site gets. Now there is a little caveat here because the way Alexa generates this data is from people downloading their (and their partners) toolbar which logs each site the person visits. This data is then extrapolated to give a best guess estimation on the real amount of traffic a website receives. If a website has a traffic rank of over 100,000 then Alexa says that the data is not reliable enough, but as you approach the #1 spot the accuracy increases as they are able to use a larger sampling of data.
The graph below shows how Agriya has experienced explosive growth in traffic (and hence sales) in 2010 where we have nearly doubled the amount of people that are visiting our site (and our Google Analytics broadly correlates to the data in the graph below).

Agriya Launches Nocturnal
Continuing the trend of releasing local and hyper-local based products such as GroupDeal, Nabit and Exposure, Agriya is releasing a brand new product which focuses on the nightlife and entertainment scene of individual towns and cities. Called Nocturnal, it will enable you to run a complete entertainment and nightlife portal with all the advanced features you need like event management, social networking, photo galleries, blogs and town and city based venues.

The script is based upon locations, so you first need to decide what areas you are going to cover – we suggest keeping it very tight and local to start off with before branching out to every city in America! Your first time visitors will be asked which town or city they want to find the latest entertainment and events in and they will be taken to the site which will only show information from the selected location.
Once the visitor has told the script which location they want information from, they can find all the local venues which are holding events, get photos, videos, the latest news and chat with others on the integrated forum.

SocialAV Gets An Update
A few months back Agriya launched a brand new, never seen before service to help people who have computers infected with viruses and can’t get rid of them because their AV software doesn’t know how or it hasn’t been updated to remove the infection.
After getting feedback from the small community that has joined the site we have released an update which addresses many User Interface aspects of the site. The changes include:
Improved Menu Styling
We have cleaned up the menu styling to make it easier to navigate around the site. Previously we used some icons in the main menu but this confused some people as to what it was meant to do. We also added the useful “How It Works” option so that people can find easily find out how SocialAv.com works for people like you and me.
Removed the search button
We found that most people were simply hitting the Enter button instead of clicking the search button, hence there was no real need for the button to be there. We have replaced it with the magnifying glass icon which is an internationally recognized symbol for search.
New Special Virus Icons
There are thousands of different viruses listed in the SocialAV.com website but unfortunately not all of them have an anti-virus solution yet. To make it easier for people browsing through the site we added a new icon which indicates whether the virus has an anti-virus solution yet.
Top Contributor
To grow the sense of community on the SocialAV.com website we have added a new feature called Top Contributor which showcases the person who has contributed the most by way of new virus additions and anti-virus solutions. The link on the homepage goes to the users profile page so that they can get more popularity and reputation within the anti-virus community.
All New How It Works Page
To be honest we don’t think people really understood the concept of SocialAV.com when we first launched it back in December. People weren’t too sure what it was meant to do or how the user generated anti-viruses worked. For this reason we added a graphical guide to how SocialAV.com works and how you can become part of the community to help report, identify and neutralize computer viruses as and when they are released.
New Press and Media Centre
Given that SocialAV.com is a new and innovative website aimed at helping computer users around the world it’s not surprising that it has generated something of a ripple amongst various media websites. We have set up a new Press and Media centre which showcases all the sites which have referenced and mentioned SocialAV.com

Agriya Redecorates The Office For Pongal 2011
If you know anything about India you will know that their is a rich and diverse culture throughout the whole country. It’s often called a sub-continent because customs and traditions in the North are completely different to those in the South.
Agriya is based in the city of Chennai (which used to be called Madras until the late 90′s) which is in the state of Tamil Nadu (which literally translates to “land of Tamils”). The Tamil language and culture is one of the oldest in the world, something they are very proud of.
One of the traditions is called Pongal, which celebrates the Tamil New Year. We’re sure you know that the Chinese have their own New Year at a different time to the Western world and the Tamil New Year is the same – they have their own calendar which is thousands of years old (far older than the Gregorian calendar that everyone uses) and so New Year comes at a different time to Western New
Year.Phew. Did you get that?
Part of the celebrations include decorating the home, creating floral patterns on the floor (called Kolam) out of dyed sea salt and cooking up some Pongal which is very sticky, very sweet and very yummy rice. It’s not for people on a diet though because with all the sugar and carbs you’ll spend the next three months at a gym trying to shift the calories!
Now most of our 200 strong staff come from towns and villages that are hundreds of miles away and take 12 hours to reach, so to create a home away from home feeling in the office our boss decided that everyone needed to take part and redecorate the place.
As part of the events, everyone was requested to come in wearing traditional South Indian clothes, which meant beautiful sarees for the ladies and cotton dhoti’s for the men. The office ladies then created the floral Kolam patterns on each floor and the men…well they hung around and didn’t do that much as usual!
There was also a grand challenge to see who could make the best Pongal. We took four experienced cooks – well, men that are married and have children, and four new cooks (some of the younger ladies) and provided all the ingredients.
The two pots were placed on a table and people were invited to try each one to judge who had made the best Pongal. Despite the years of experience between the men, the Pongal cooked up by the ladies was judged to have the best taste. There was some controversy surrounding the competition when the men were caught red handed swapping the pots of food around!
