Agriya Launches Nabit – A Full Yoink Clone
With the new age of austerity affecting many of us and environmental awareness at the forefront of our minds, Nabit is the perfect platform to combine the two biggest issues affecting our world today.
In a nutshell, you can think of this Yoink clone software as an eBay for freebies. Just like on eBay you can list your unwanted items, just like on eBay people can get your items but the biggest difference is that you are giving away your items for free, essentially recycling them and minimizing the environmental impact.

To build a sense of community, the Nabit platform has a full stats page that shows users who is the most generous person on the site along with who is the most generous from your local area. If the user logs in they can also find out some interesting stats about how they rank compared to other people on the website.
Customizing
Nabit uses Agriya’s framework which is a tried and tested foundation and runs our other legendary software like Rayzz, Volume, iSocial and Feedy. It has an external Smarty templating system so the design can easily be customized if you know how to use PHP, XHTML and CSS. Agriya will also provide any customization requirements that you might have.
Hosting Requirements
Nabit is a low resource script and would work on most cPanel shared hosting solutions. However if it starts to get a lot of traffic we recommend upgrading to a VPS. We do not support customers who choose GoDaddy hosting since their servers are incompatible with our scripts. Agriya can recommend several hosting solutions if required.

Agriya Launches MarkIt 3
Two years ago Agriya launched MarkIt, a brand new social bookmarking script which enabled anyone to run their own Digg or Delicious type website. The response to the first script was encouraging but we soon realized that we were missing many of the features demanded by people serious about making money from their social bookmarking site. We soon followed up with MarkIt version 2 which brought in many features that everyone had requested – infact it was so stable that we haven’t even updated the script since we launched it last year.

A user comes to your site to enter some interesting links and it gets shared amongst other members of the website. If they find it to be interesting they can vote up the story to control what’s hot and what’s not.
Each story (link) can be tagged with a number of descriptive words to help others find interesting links and it acts like categories – but much more fluid and user generated. Members can comment and discuss the links with each other and follow other members and be alerted when their friends post new and interesting links.

Agriya Launches New Marketplace
Ever since we launched our first product 4 years ago it has been the dream of Agriya to launch an online marketplace for people to buy and sell templates and modules for our products. We wanted to create a place where designers could benefit from our development expertise by making extra cash designing templates and our customers could have an even greater range of customization options than Agriya could provide by itself.
The dream has finally been realized with the launch of Ocarda, a fully functional digital marketplace for people to come and buy and sell templates and modules for all of Agriya’s products. The site already has over 50 items for you to choose from and we are very interested to hear from designers who are interested in selling their designs on Ocarda.

How Effective Is Your Anti Virus Software?
Two decades ago computer viruses were passed around from disk to disk and rarely had the destructive power that modern day viruses posses. There was little commercial intent behind the viruses being written with most of them being created by bored teenagers or curious computer hackers.
During the 90′s as people started sending more and more emails, virus writers would try and trick people in to downloading and opening email attachments (something which still works quite well today). Even then, the virus would generally mess the computer up and stop it from working, there was still very little commercial intent.
Fast forward to the present day and computer virus writing is very big business for criminal gangs around the world. The monetary reward can be huge by writing viruses that log all the users data such as passwords and credit card numbers which are then sent silently to the gangs around the world. Another way viruses have been commercialized is by creating ‘botnets’ which can serve multiple purposes such as being ordered to send junk data to a specific website (known as a Denial of Service Attack) or even turn them in to email servers and send out tens of thousands of emails per day without the computer owner ever knowing.
By commercializing computer viruses in this manner, the gangs can make, or even extort money – one virus that appeared in Japan scanned the users browsing history to look for adult sites and then sent the owner an email saying they would make the information public unless a ransom was paid. Another example is to hold the computer hostage by encrypting all the files unless a ransom fee is paid to return the computer back to a working state.
Because of the highly targeted nature of these new viruses – the people that viewed various adult sites were targeted because they used a specific P2P client – many of the world’s leading computer anti-virus software makers are struggling to keep up with the vast number of new malware, viruses, ransomware, trojans, worms etc. that pop up each day. Infact, given the amount of GUI tools available some people believe that “script kiddies” are contributing up to 1,000 new viruses each day, although the vast majority are simply variations on existing viruses rather than brand new creations.
The spread of computer viruses is compounded by the fact that data portability is so easy nowadays. There are a multitude of ways to send and receive data, it’s even possible to put a highly destructive virus on a computer network which has no connection to the Internet as the Iranian authorities found out earlier this year.
For every anti-virus software that is available, there are many stories of how they failed to update their database when a new threat was reported, infact months can go by from the time a new threat is identified and the software is updated to automatically remove it – and that’s assuming that the virus is ‘big enough’ for them to warrant spending time and resources creating the removal code. There are stories of extremely specialized viruses that are designed to target high net worth individuals to gain access to their computer and accounts.
You might think that Norton have got their act together to protect you from all known threats? Well, a quick search reveals that this isn’t quite true, there are plenty of computer viruses that Norton doesn’t have protection for. And what about Kaspersky? Often showcased as one of the best pieces of anti-virus software available, but plenty of reports show there are a few gaps in their armour.

Agriya Diwali Holidays 2010
This is a short blog announcement to let you know that the Agriya offices will be shut from the 4th – 8th November 2010. This is due to the Diwali holiday season that is celebrated in India when everyone returns to be with their family (just like Christmas in America and Europe).

Agriya’s New Service: Deal Feeder
A few weeks back Agriya launched a new product which works like a Yipit clone and we think it struck a chord with many online entrepreneurs who wanted to cash in on the Groupon and group buying craze but didn’t want to spend time sourcing new deals or didn’t have enough contacts to make it work.
The deal aggregator changed all that by being able to pull all the deals from various sites like Groupon and LivingSocial so that anyone can create their own group buying, daily deals site with very little effort.
The way the script works is to take the RSS feed from the deal sites and import the data on to your site – it works like an absolute charm as all our customers can testify. However there is one tinsy winsy little problem: not all group buying sites have an RSS feed of their daily deals.

TheDailyChic Launches Yipit Clone – Should Have Come To Agriya
I was just reading in the news today that Michelle Dewberry, winner of the UK version of The Apprentice, has just launched a new daily deals aggregator for the UK markets. Called TheDailyChic, it combines the deals from 7 UK based group buying sites and emails them to members.
According to the About Us page, Michelle says she was inspired to create the site after getting fed up with so many daily emails in her inbox and wanted it all in one condensed email. I’m guessing she has never heard of Yipit then which has for the last few months been…aggregating all the daily deals and sending them to you in one condensed email.

Anyway, we’re sure that Michelle and Vicky (the other partner in the site) don’t want to hear about Agriya’s Yipit clone software, a ready made turnkey solution that would have enabled TheDailyChic to be up and running within a day. While I’m sure they have spent countless thousands of pounds on the site and the backend (although it looks like they knocked up the design in MS Paint), if only they had come to Agriya! We’d have saved them thousands on their Yipit clone, provided full backend support, maintained their site and been on hand to fix any problems right away.
Since we’re not familiar with how they have set up the website, we’re not sure how they are pulling all the deals, but if Michelle had opted to use Agriya’s software she’d have had little to no extra work to do since the software runs on virtual autopilot!
