GroupDeal Success Story
AGRIYA has been witnessing revolutionary mark-up, ever since it had slowly started to transform itself into a Product development company, by releasing many successful social networking and knowledge sharing products into the market, notably Rayzz worlds No 1 video sharing platform, Anova No 1 Q&A platform, Isocial and Kootali, the best Social networking platforms in the market. At this time of chronology, Our customers, Our Fanboys and including myself at Agriya were wondering and thinking deep deep down the ground as to what should be the next product, the next big thing that we can build that will not just help 100′s and 1000′s of entrepreneurs, SMEs and increase enterprise-benefits across the globe , but also that would shift AGRIYA Itself into top gear!
Since I have already discovered that everyone at Agriya closely follow start-up-scene happenings across the globe, I believed that we have a chance here to make immense, and one such start-up-based out in Chicago did happen to catch my attention big time and that was none other than Groupon, because of its innovative concept it started to take the tech world by storm and slowly started to reach the main stream adoption. Once again Agriya had its eureka movement at this juncture, and discovered that this was a great idea, which can help local business to flourish by offering great discounts and to connect with its customers directly.
Immediately we organized strategic team to pull out the possible outcomes of the product, and many table-discussions followed after setting up this strategic team, as should this be the next big product that Agriya should build!?, Finally we struck a decision when the consensus was reached, after which we got our brightest tech team behind the product analysis / planning / development etc to build the BIG boy!
After burning countless hours our team released the 1st version of GroupDeal, which had all the basic features of groupon, but as always AGRIYA did introduce some really cool ideas like self serve option for Merchants (which groupon introduced at a very later stage).
I have never seen a product, that would not have challenges etc at least at it’s initial stages. even our groupon product had several challenges, one of the main being Tipping point (Pre-Authorization / Do Capture) etc. And not a lot of payment gateways had this option out of the box, but thanks to Paypal and Authorize.net which did have these as a part of their API. So our team was able to mimic exactly like how groupon worked in terms of tipping point (that is a charge will not happen on your credit card till the min no of buyers actually buy the product / service put on sale) and I am proud to say that we were the first ones in the market to have come up with the groupon clone and also having properly understood how groupon worked and implemented it in the same way.
I am also glad for having launched “Agriya Ideas” a crowd funded product development approach with tipping point along the lines of how groupon operates.
I have to admint that we did have our fair share of mistakes in launching the product too early to the customers, which did result in quiet a lot of bugs early on. But thanks to our early customers and our relentlessness tech team which kept working harder and harder to resolve any reported bugs at the shortest time possible. I am always ever-indebted to our customers and I will continue to be so, for one, they are the only reason we have survived and still exist in business today and the second main reason being their courtesies shown towards the sharing of really great ideas / feedback / insights. Myself and people at AGRIYA are always obliged to serve our customers in the highest and best way possible. In this regards I have also taken quiet a lot of initiatives recently, internally to greatly improve the overall product even in beta releases. I am keenly looking forward to the launch of our 2 other major products shortly.
Time and time again I have witnessed a quiet a lot of our competitors closely following Agriya and its foot steps, be informed that we were the first ones to launch a youtube clone back in 2005 / 2006 and immediately after the release we saw quiet a lot of our competitors do the same by following our ideas to create it. This time again it is no different, I have also started spotting out a lot of other competitors who have started to offer groupon clones (but sadly not that great). But never the less none have the depth / expertise / vision as we have, and they are neither revolutionary nor evolutionary, in Agriya we don’t just try to copy / clone a product blatantly but also see ways and means to improve from the original idea itself and constantly evolve the software over a sustained period of time which goes beyond the life span of the business model itself. For example Agriya still continues to develop / support / evolve our youtube clone, but sadly there is virtually 0 companies which does that, most companies are like a flash in the pan / fly by night, they see a big wave make an 1/2 baked product, sell some copies (because they price it so cheap) and after few months they disappear. I personally think that being innovative, developing a good solid product, giving great support, continued development and support of the product for beyond an acceptable period of time, are some of the key areas where Agriya sets it self apart from the others and that’s why we continue to sell so many of our software even though there are several competitors offering products at much cheaper rate.
So at this point I would once again like to thank each and everyone of our customers for their support / co-operations / ideas / bugs reported / feedback / confidence / faith / providing us with an opportunity to serve them and last but not least for being the complete reason for Agriya’s existence and growth.
