Well, how can you achieve the top position in the SERPS? Implementing proper search engine optimization is the only long term way to get a good position for a long time in top search engines like Google, Yahoo & MSN and so on.

Search engine optimization is also known as organic SEO. It is a set of methodologies used to optimize your pages for keywords that funnel targeted-traffic to your website resulting in increase of sales. It is important for any business to make use of this medium to get greater visibility and override the competition.

Below are some of the endless reasons why SEO is a must for your marketing strategy.
The first and foremost thing is brand awareness. If the web site holds high ranking in the search engines, there is a chance for more people to see the company’s name and become familiar with it. So then, they can reach public even if they haven’t purchased anything.

Almost everyone knows that SEO can bring in loads of traffic that will actually boost their business. And traffic is exactly what every business needs, whether it’s online or offline. SEO will also help you convert visitors into paying customers once they find your site.

You can reduce the advertising budget via SEO process. It helps you increase your results in the organic search engine listing. So that consumers are more likely to purchase from you. Other than that if your site is well ranked in search engines, other webmasters will automatically approach you to suggest possible partnerships, which will reduce the amount spent while doing “active” promotions.

Because of the tight competition for top search engine rankings, SEO services are in demand, and running an SEO firm is turning out to be a very lucrative business. Agriya offers world class SEO services to clients throughout the world. They provide the following things:

  • Guaranteed top rankings in the search engines
  • Greater visibility

Have you heard of “Google Dance”? It is mainly for those who are concerned about their rankings on Google, as it refreshes the content for better SEO. It is an interesting theme that happens once in a month, that is, Google updates its entire index of web sites on a regular, ongoing, constant basis. Usually it’s done from about 20th to 28th of every month. Google exploits 9 data centers that will provide different results until the Google dance update completes its recalculations. Once the dance has been completed, the search engine results will show new listings and changes in ranking position.

What really happens is, Google sends out spiders to crawl the Internet, it begins to go through each individual site and updates the content on to Google.com. During the dance, SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) can fluctuate and websites often see a surprising rise or fall in rankings before returning back to normal. So people are known to get a little nervous or both if their site disappears from the index or slips in ranking.

As a result of updating process, old indexes do not simply yield to new indexes, but there is quite random movement in transition. It takes a couple of days for Google to complete its update. Especially during this period, both old and new indexes get their place on www.google.com, although alternatively or even in unpredictable ways before new indexes stabilize there for all to see.

There are many data centers that Google uses to spider across the world. Each center has a specific region it covers and all the information is gathered in aggregate and returned back to Google.com. It has 3 main WWW servers online, which are as follows:

WWW.google.com – main address, the true homepage of Google.

Other two servers are WWW2.google.com &WWW3.google.com which have been primarily instrumental in providing some answer to webmasters who are a little tentative with their future rankings.

When the mass update begins, the number of results on the three servers will be different for a while. Thus the results vary from server to server, they are said to be “dancing”, hence the name “Google Dance”.

Google Dance takes place every month and usually close to the end of the month. In order to know when the Google search engine spiders the pages of the web, there are various Google Dance tools available. You greatly benefit from this as it assists you to know when your site will rank in Google.

During the Dance, the Google spider will revisit every website, figure out how many sites link to it, and how valuable these links are. As Google is constantly crawling and updating the selected pages, their search results will vary slightly over the course of month. You can make sure all your web page does not go down for maintenance during Google’s Dancing period. It is just a right chance to make a better shot by fully optimizing your web sites, and to beat your competitors.

You probably saw it: Agriya Infoway has got a new site, with a completely different appearance, new functions, new classifications and brand new design, in fact.

The question that you probably wanted to ask is very short: “why?” Why Agriya wanted to change this site? The answer is also very simple: to suit more users’ needs. The new features added to this site are designed to make this site more “friendly”, for everybody and everything: more “user friendly” and more “SEO Friendly”.

The more important change can be seen directly from the first page: the site is looking now much more attractive than before, thanks to a younger and more dynamic layout. Even the icons are bigger, and texts are less intrusive.

As “Agriya service offer” is changing (a few services are now added), this list needed to change; it is now fully representing how we imagine our business: lively, young, always changing.

This change of site features had also another purpose: to fix what was not working. With this new version, you will not have again the broken links that you used to have in the last version. All those problems disappeared, and the new site, which is now working fine, is looking more professional.

“SEO” is the key word for these new site features: the ROI (Return On Investment) was quite low in the last version of the site, because the conversion rate was not as high as expected. It means that the browsers that turned into customers were not enough. Now, everything has been done to improve those two ratings.

We also put the emphasis on the customer: the new site features are designed to make the customer’s action much easy. For example, buying a product was not totally easy. Now, a “customer cart” was added: it will surely improve the conversion rate, and it will be more “user friendly”.

Last reason for site change: as Agriya Infoway evolved and changed, its internet site needed to show those evolutions and changes. For sure, the products are still the same: YouTube clone, Facebook clone, yahoo-answers clone, webcam recorder script and so forth. The main changes are elsewhere: the services provided by Agriya that includes social network, technical writing, project consultations by dedicated project managers, SEO marketing and quality assurance for your web sites, flash/flex development for audio or video streaming, customization of open source software, design for your website, or web development and enterprise solutions for your projects.

This list has never been so long. It shows the internal revolution that Agriya is facing, and, of course, it can explain why the site needed to be changed.

Is a site map necessary for a website? Yes of course. If a website has hundreds of pages, it can get rather chaotic in a navigation bar. Apart from this, both human browsers and search engine spiders need an easy access to find all the pages within a site. Therefore a sitemap is very essential. It gives them a simple navigational tool.

Lack of a sitemap may be the reason why your site hasn’t been completely indexed. If you are using many pages, some search engines have a difficulty in indexing them. So a site map makes it easier for a search engine spider to find and index every page on your site. It will surely improve the search engine optimization of your site.

So, what is a site map? Site map is a textually organized model for a website content that allows the users to go to the website to find what they require. It doesn’t need to include all of your web pages but should include all the site structures.

With a little effort, you can create a Sitemap for your site. Here comes some important guidelines for enhancing the sitemap.

Provide a sitemap to your users with links that point to the important parts of your site. This assists the visitors who are using a sitemap as a quick and easy means to find the information.

Provide short description about your products and services at the top of your site map page. This can be a nice introduction about your services for someone who has landed on this page directly from a search engine or else where.

Use layout for your sitemap page as it will provide a clear visual structure for your website.

Make sure that your sitemap is updated frequently. As your website grows, you must update your Sitemap. It helps your visitors know that a new content is being added to your website. If you are selling products or offering services, this is one of the greatest ways for the users to know your latest products or services by visiting your Sitemap.

Without a Sitemap, your visitors may even leave your site, going back to the search engine pages, to look for information that may be in your website. So create an effective site map even if you have a website with few pages and thus grab more visitors.

Domain name is the URL address of your website and is helpful for the internet users to identify your website. For example, Yahoo.com is the domain name for Yahoo’s website.

Here are some tips to choose a powerful name for your site:

The most important thing is that your domain name should be unique, so people don’t mistake it for another existing website.

To optimize your website in search engines, use keywords that best suit your site content, within your domain name.

The domain name should be relevant to your goods and services.

Try to use a short domain name, so it’s easy to remember. (Ideally, it should not exceed 63 characters).

Don’t use spaces and symbols on your domain name. It should not be case sensitive.

People have the tendency to use the most popular Top Level Domain (TLD) “.com”, while they search for any website. So it is recommended to use .com as your TLD. You can also register your domain name with different TLDs like .net, .uk, .us, .in etc. But direct all the domain names to your website, so that people searching for your domain name with any extension can view your site.

Try to use several similar domain names for your website. This will help people reach your site; even they misspell your website.

What is trademark? Is it useful for domain name? A trademark is a word, phrase, logo, symbol etc used by a business to identify a product. Unfortunately if your trademark is similar to your competitor’s, you may have to face legal charges. For this reason, it is better to avoid using trademark when choosing a domain name.

Choosing a good domain name is one of the best ways to get targeted traffic to your website and promote your business online.

Everyone’s goal is to be successful in their field. You can be successful in online marketing by following two simple steps:

Step 1: Attract more visitors to your site
Step 2: Turn visitors into customers

Right now, you may think that it is easier said than done. Yes! I agree with you. This article will provide some tips that will make it easier for you to go through the above mentioned steps and achieve your goal.
Attract more visitors to your site by listing your site in search engines, advertising your product/service in other popular sites, bulk e-mailing, pop-up ads, building link popularity, and offering e-books or articles and classified advertisements. Analyze the statistics of site visitors, to find out the weakness of the site and look to improve upon those areas.

If your site is not listed within first ten rankings of any search engine, the probability of visitors finding it reduces greatly. Hence you have to use the advanced SEO techniques to be able to fair very well on search engines.

You can also increase your web traffic by writing to e-zines or to any free article sites available on the net. The article should include a link to your site, so that every time someone clicks on your link, it brings traffic to your site for free.

Once you have grabbed the visitors to your site, your next job is to make sure that all of them stay glued to it. This can be done by providing enriched information about the products or services offered. It is also important to keep your content fresh and alive at all times.

Some tips to enrich your site content are, using images, listing out the features in points (to make it easier for reader), posting a list of all your products and mentioning features of each version in detail, providing clear and simple content, and offering guest posting opportunities to motivate visitors to become part of your blog community.

If the visitors find your site useful, you can be sure that they will buy your product. It is hence in your hands to expose your product effectively and promote your business online.

In what seems to be a shot across the bows of the dreadnought that is USS Microsoft, Google and Yahoo today announced a two week long ‘experiment’ of swapping ads with one another.

Effectively this means that Google can serve ads on Yahoo’s results page. The percentage is around 3% of all Yahoo searches will show Google ads.

Is this a calculated shot from the two internet monsters that they will not accept Microsoft’s pestering of Yahoo lying down?

wp logoJust wanted to post a quick note of (admittedly belated) congratulations to the guys over at WordPress.org on releasing the latest 2.5 version of their software.

The newest version is another step forward to what is arguably the worlds best (not to mention favourite) blogging platform – beating other open source and commercial products alike.

The latest version has way too many new features to mention, so we won’t, we’ll let the guys over at wordpress do that here:

http://wordpress.org/development/2008/03/wordpress-25-brecker/

My personal appreciation for WordPress started just over a year ago in January 2007 when I decided to switch my personal blog from Drupal to WP. The ease and simplicity was a step ahead of everything else I’ve used and I’m glad to say that after upgrading this blog they have continued that tradition.

But WordPress isn’t just a great blogging tool, over the years it has also evolved in to what could be considered quite a robust content management system, and infact we are modifying WP right now to power our network of sites – I’ll tell you right now, the programmers wanted to use Drupal, but I stuck to my guns and they conceded that WP would be able to do the job :)

If you are thinking of using or already use Wordpress for your blogging solution, I strongly suggest you check out this WordPress SEO Whitepaper which contains loads of tips, tricks and plugin suggestions to get the most out of your blog.

Finally, if you are in the market for some custom Wordpress templates or custom plugins, then shoot us a mail to info@agriya.com and tell us what you have on your mind. We love Wordpress at Agriya, and we’re keen to help you get the best out of it!

There’s a handy little tool provided by Google that seems to have been overlooked by many SEO’s and webmasters in general. The tool is called Google Trends and it allows you to find out the search trend of the keyword phrases you might want to be optimizing for.

Let me first start by saying Google Trends is not a keyword search volume tool. It shows you the general trend, and is relative only to that search phrase.

I have found it particularly useful when researching niches, for example, say you wanted to use Rayzz to start your own video sharing site in the niche of Base Jumping (hey, there’s a lot of crazy people out there), I can use Google Trends to find out if it’s a growing niche based on searches.

base jumping trends

Based on the image above, we can see that the overall trend for base jumping seems to be up, great news if we were to start a new site on base jumping.

Some of the limitations of the tool is that it won’t report on every keyword if there is not enough data. So you can probably forget about using most of your long tail words in this tool.

What I find the tool useful for is to search for the higher level or more generic keywords and see what the overall trend is for the niche in general. If it’s a rising trend, then it’s a good sign it’s a growing industry.

Let’s say you were looking at Orbit Social Networking Software, you are wondering if social networking is a growing industry. We head over to Google Trends and do a search…

social networking search trend

Awesome! The search has near exponential growth, social networking is definitely taking off. And look at the number of news reports, social networking is a hot topic right now, so it’s definitely time to hop on that band wagon :)

social bookmarking websites are important factors for increasing traffic. I write some strategy about Social bookmarking submission. I used for our site http://www.agriya.com. Its very useful for increasing traffic for your websites.

Social bookmarking strategy:

  1. Basic Bookmarking
  2. Mutiple Account Spamming
  3. Blogfarm bookmarking
  4. Sitemap bookmarking
  5. Tagfarm
  6. Random bookmarking strategy

Basic Bookmarking:

This very basic bookmarking strategy. To create one account and submitting bookmarking information. Bookmark a few important social bookmarking websites. that is like,

  • simply
  • furl
  • spurl
  • blinklist
  • Del.icio.us
  • Blogmarks

Mutiple Account Spamming

This is used by spammers to get more instance traffic from bookmarking sites.
To create a lot of account for each bookmarking by using different emails and submitting the bookmarking websites.

The effect for this strategy is get more traffic instantly and delete the account instantly.

Blogfarm bookmarking

BlogFarm is one of the most common tactics used by most blackhats. I have seen whitehats using this tactic to get links to their whitehat sites. It is a very effective tactic to get your site indexed. BlogFarm usually involves the linking of related blogs together.

You can use it to bookmark the blogfarms! If you try to bookmark 20k pages, you will be easilyaccused of spamming. The best practice is to link to the 20k pages from your Blogfarms and then social bookmark your Blogfarm. Those 20k pages will be crawled faster.

Sitemap bookmarking

This strategy is very simple.. All your domain links are set to sitemap and bookmark your sitemap to bookmarking sites. The search Engine spider crawl that sitemap and find all the links.

Tagfarm

Furl >link to> Spurl > link to> Blogmarks >link to> Delicious >link to > so on

Random bookmarking strategy

This is very good strategy to make good random traffic from bookmarking site.
create small number of account(2 or 3 email account) and bookmark to bookmarking website. After one week then create new 2 or 3 account and submit to that sites. Randomly we create like then we get more traffic randomly. But please handle some care because its one of the blackhat techniques also.
