John, possibly our software isn’t aimed at people like yourself then? Agriya certainly isn’t the only company to offer copyright removal, all the major players like Jive, vBulletin, Invision, Kayako, iDevAffiliate include some kind of encryption, call home feature and offer copyright removal for a small fee.

If $247 is too expensive, how about looking to some open source software? Joomla with some addons could make quite a powerful script, but of course, you wouldn’t get the technical support and regular updates you would get from Agriya, which is part and parcel of what you are paying for. Unlimited support and updates isn’t cheap to provide!

We have certainly discussed going open source for some of our products, and I’m quite an advocate of it, but we have to balance that with the fact that we have 200+ staff to pay each month.

Each product has 2-3 full time developers / designers / css people working on it, a full time sales rep, an SEO team, content writers, full time support technician…you get the picture! It’s a case of basic business 101, price vs units shifted. We need a price of $247 to pay the staff and still make a profit, if we price it any lower we don’t make enough to cover the staff costs.

The reason they steal is becuase it’s so expensive. $247 + if you want to remove the copyright stuff like who this script was made by Agryia and so on you are looking to spend quiet a bit.

I don’t understand why if someone purchases the full version they don’t get your information removed so that the website has no links linking to your website. Someone people might choose to but other would like the option on having a clean site to look like they designed it all.

I think a fair price would be $147. I myself am really interested but just can’t afford to spend that money if I am not sure that I will have a large enough audience to make some money back.

You have to accept a certain amount of piracy with almost any digital product, with our latest release we didn’t bother with any kind of copyright protection. Added development time + ongoing maintence just didn’t outway the chance that we would miss some sales.

I think the best way to combat piracy is to either offer so much value with support, add-ons & membership that people will want to pay for your product.

Piracy cannot be accepted in anyway, Jamie. If it is highly priced means, you just ignore it; look for free alternatives. I also think Agriya should take proper care when protecting its software. Whether the script has been protected by ioncube or zend guard, somehow it has been ‘nulled’ by professional nullers. Agriya should think in a new way to avoid piracy. For eg, Agriya may develop a bot that automatically detects and reports illegal sharing of agriya products in file sharing system, just like warez forum bots that reports the files that are removed from hosting server.

The reason is your products are amazingly high priced, no offence I also do not see a great quality in your products too which makes people spend their money.
This is a saturated market you mush remember.
